Fading Hopes for Immigration Reform

On Thursday, February 6, 2014, Time published an article titled 5 Reasons Immigration is Going Nowhere Fast. Speaker of the House John Boehner, speaks out to the media and lets the public know how he sees no path forward towards the immigration reform and President Obama’s lack of action. Boehner, blames the republicans and doubts President Obama’s administration trust to enforce laws. This article also states five reasons why the immigration reform is going no where next year. Especially since President Obama’s changes to the health care reform law and the use of executive orders to get into situations that seem irreversible in congress or “logjams.” Boehner states that any immigration legislation is difficult to move along until Republicans and President Obama’s attitudes change.

Changes in the past week lead to five reasons why immigration is going nowhere fast in Washington. The 2014 midterm elections, trust in Obama and Republicans, Capital Hill disagreements, GOP(Republican Party) disagreements, and the 2017 midterm elections.

I think this article is worth reading because we need to keep ourselves informed on this important subject. An immigration reform has long been promised, but no negotiation has been successful because their is so many things that need to be taken into account when it comes to letting illegal undocumented immigrates come into our country. The button line is that a reform needs to be enforced soon because many lives are being affected and it needs immediate resolution.
